Free online test preparation for standardized tests

These standardized tests include the SAT, PSAT, ACT, AP in Biology, Calculus and History, GED, TOEFL, ASVAB and civil service exams. Students can use this from any computer, anywhere in the world with a web connection and a public library card.

The beauty of the prep program, Learning Express, is that it "times" the practice test so students get an accurate idea of how they would perform during the real thing. It scores the test and recommends areas the student needs to work on. Students can also download study guides from the website.

To use Learning Express, all a student needs is a library card from either the Chicago Public Library, the Evanston Public Library or nearly any other suburban public library.

  • If using the Evanston Public Library visit www.epl.org/search and scroll down to “Other Resources” at bottom left and click “Learning Express.” Type in an Evanston Library card number.
  • If using the Chicago Public Library then go to www.chipublib.org/ and click “Find-it!” then type in a Chicago Library card number and zip code. Click “Advanced Search” then scroll down to Learning Express.
  • If using the Skokie Public Library visit www.skokie.lib.il.us/s_info/ and Click either “Education” or “Library databases” and scroll down to Learning Express. Type in a Skokie library card number and your last name.

Also, the Skokie Library has prepared a very helpful guide to using Learning Express, which you can print out at the following: www.skokielibrary.info/s_info/in_guides/LearningExpress/index.html.

Once again, this service is FREE to public library card holders.
