Save the Date - The 40th Reunion for the Class of 1968 is Saturday, October 25th at Notre Dame High School at 7655 West Dempster Street in Niles.

Planning the Class of 1958 50th Reunion & Salute to Coach Yonto Weekend (9/19-21/08) - Volunteers Needed & Appreciated

The Notre Dame High School Alumni Association is seeking your great ideas and energy to help plan the 50th Reunion/Salute to Coach Joe Yonto Weekend which is scheduled for September 19th through 21st. The invitation to this fun and memory filled weekend will be extended to Alumni from the Classes of 1958 as well as those Alumni who played football under the guidance of legendary Coach Joe Yonto from 1958 to 1964. Father Brinker and Father Tallerida will hopefully be able to attend the weekend festivities.

A variety of ideas have been discussed. Some proposals include:

September 19th –

Pre-varsity game gathering in the Library and under a tent adjacent to Library
Meet & greet with Fr. John Smyth and Fr. Ray Klees
Attend the varsity football game vs. St. Pat’s in the NDHS football stadium at 7:30 pm (Halftime announcement recognizing the Alumni in attendance)
Post-varsity game party in the Library/under the tent

September 20th –

Events to be announced
Dinner at an area restaurant or banquet hall

September 21st –

Mass at Notre Dame High School
Brunch to follow Mass

These are merely ideas and nothing is carved in stone except the dates. We greatly need your input regarding the festivities over that weekend. We need people to head up committees (see below "Here are some of the tasks that we need help with)

Regardless of the types of events that are planned, many volunteers are required to help things run smoothly. We need your help to make this weekend successful. Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

Here are some of the tasks that we need help with:

Someone to Chair the event (co-chairs are welcome)
Coordinating the booking of a room for the Saturday night banquet (menu, price, etc.)
Help with booking a hotel which will offer a group rate for NDHS Alumni for that weekend
Help with deciding which events will take place – will we have a gathering on Friday night at NDHS? Is there interest in having a golf outing on Saturday?
Help with following up in reaching out to Alumni to encourage them to attend one or all of these events
Help with spreading the word to fellow Alumni

As you can see, there is a lot of work to be done and much more that we have not even thought about yet. The men who graduated in the Class of 1958 were trailblazers at Notre Dame High School. Their legacy has been felt by each Don to have entered since. Concurrently, Coach Yonto and his fellow coaches and the Alumni who played under them helped establish the winning attitude that continues to permeate the NDHS halls to this day. Please help us honor all of them by helping us plan a tremendous weekend on their behalf.
