I just wanted to take the time and let you guys know how grateful I am to all those who keep the school going. I live in Des Plaines with my wife Carla and my son Raymond who just celebrated his 3rd birthday. He will be attending St. Stephens in Des Plaines and I hope to enroll him at Notre Dame when the time comes.

I just recently returned to the Catholic Church and have started a Young Adult Ministry (ages 20-40 married and single) at St. Mary's parish of Des Plaines. If any Alumni in the Des Plaines area are interested, they can contact me through the parish.

As far as my professional life, I'm proof that drawing in the margins of your notebook can lead to a great career as a graphic artist. I've spent the last 12 years after college developing products in the toy and consumer electronic industry.

I currently work for a small consumer electronics company, Digital Innovations, in Arlington Heights. Our core product is the Skip DR, which fixes scratched CD's, DVD's, and game discs. In between developing new styles of packaging for our product line, I have recently developed a new product that works with the XBOX 360. It allows the gamer to inject sound bites from any audio source into on-line game play and will not disable the microphone feature. It will be available this fall at Best Buy and GameStop. Keep an eye out for the "gameDR Smack Talk".

I think back to my 4 years at ND and realize that the people I met at ND (teachers and students) helped shaped the person I am today. Thank youto Notre Daem for helping me develop and use my talents.

Christopher Thelen '89

"Anyone who knew me way back then - when I was thinner (well, relatively) and had more hair - probably could have predicted that I'd have followed some kind of a career in music or journalism (thank you Anthony Moscatello for the latter). After getting my Bachelor's degree in Journalism from Lewis University in 1993, I took time away from writing, even taking a position for a rival ESCC school as their publicist for two years, before I finally settled on a career in the MIS department of a plastics distributor, M. Holland Company in Northbrook. (I'm still there, only I've moved to the Technical Service department.)

But journalism is still very much in my blood. In my spare time, I founded the music review website "The Daily Vault" in 1997, which over time became one of the most respected sources for music criticism on the Internet. In the summer of 2005, I announced that I was stepping down from the active roster of the site to spend more time with my family - only to have opportunity visit me again. I was offered the position of music director for WRLR LP-FM 98.3, a low-power community radio station in Round Lake Heights, which I gladly accepted. Besides building up what will eventually be the most eclectic music library of any radio station anywhere, I host two programs, "All Access" and "Lake County Local Showcase".

I live in Gurnee with my wife Carrie - we just celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary - and my three children: Sarah, Nicolette and Andrew. I still have very fond memories of many people from my days at Notre Dame, including my classmates Steve Henning and Mike Ryan, as well as teachers Dave VandenBusch and Fr. Chris Kuhn (who did me the honors of officiating at my wedding and baptizing our twins Nicolette and Andrew).

Here is the text of the medal citation: For meritorious achievement during combat operations as the Assistant Chief of Staff G-6, I Marine Expeditionary Force in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom II from 1 October 2003 to 25 September 2004. Throughout this period Col Considine was instrumental in establishing, organizing and leading one of the largest most capable C4 systems in Marine Corps history. His efforts in reconstituting the MEF's communications capabilities were instrumental in preparing the MEF for combat operations. He delivered critical C4 equipment to support the MEF staff's Advance Party at Camp Fallujah, where he was subjected to frequent enemy rocket and mortar attacks. His exceptional performance of duties was key to the I MEF Commander's ability to command and control forces in combat and in security and stability operations in the Al Anbar province of Western Iraq. Furthermore, his tremendous technical expertise aggressive approach to establishing communications greatly enhanced the combat command and control abilities of the I MEF Major Subordinate Commanders in an AOR the size of Wyoming. Col Considine's exceptional leadership and loyal devotion to duty reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the Marine Corps and the United States Naval Service.

"I have been at SBC since March of 2001. Currently, I am taking a promotion in management with the goal of being a general manager or director of the Illinois region. In May of 2002, I married my best friend, Kelly! In December of 2002 we had a set of fraternal twins, my son Tyler and daughter Mackenzie. We bought our first piece of real estate in Des Plaines just before the birth of the twins. In May of 2004, we felt are challenges of working and caring for 2 children were not enough, so we had my son Andrew (A.J.). Prior to Andrew's birth, we realized that the 2 bedroom condo would not be enough space, so we bought a home in Brookfield. Now I find myself working a lot more at home than at my full-time job. Never realized that bringing up 3 children, (all under the age of 3) would be more difficult than a full-time job. As far as my wife Kelly, she works 2 days a week at Home Depot, just to have an adult social life."
