Why do three generations of Dons spanning 6 decades remember their NDHS teachers?
- 72% of faculty and staff have advanced degrees
- 48% of our faculty, counseling and coaching staff have been at Notre Dame more than 10 years.
- There are presently 3 priests working at the school including President Rev. John P. Smyth, his special assistant Rev. Raymond Klees and Rev. Richard Conyers, CSC.
- Presently, 10 of our faculty members are NDHS alumni.
- NDHS faculty members are artists and writers, scientists and historians. Several of our faculty have authored and edited books and textbooks in their fields and had essays, stories, poems and articles published in field journals.
- NDHS faculty respects, values, and supports its students, encouraging them to excel as true leaders and gentlemen.
What makes NDHS distinctive?
- We are a medium-sized school (2008-2009: over 830 students).
- The Dons of Notre Dame High School are Gentlemen of Mary.
- We are an all-boys school that takes seriously the task of forming men of faith, scholarship and service in the Holy Cross educational tradition.
- We are exclusively college-preparatory with a full complement of honors and AP courses offered. 102 academic courses are offered, including 22 honors classes and 10 Advanced Placement courses.
- NDHS offers 14 interscholastic sports and 32 clubs and organizations for its students.
- 90% of the student body is actively involved in interscholastic sports and/or at least one club or student organization.
- The Dons annually commit over 20,000 service hours to the local community.
Where do NDHS Dons go upon graduation?
- Consistantly, 97% of our graduates have gone on to college. The list of schools to which our graduates have been accepted include The University of Chicago, University of Notre Dame, Princeton University, The U.S. Naval Academy, Dartmouth, Yale, The University of Illinois, Northwestern University, U.S. Military Academy at West Point, DePaul University, Pepperdine, University of Arizona and many others.
