Full Year
Students receive a comprehensive presentation of the elements of modern bookkeeping and accounting theory and practice. The use of T-accounts is emphasized. Students are taught how to record business transactions and prepare financial statements. Students also have the opportunity to prepare basic income tax returns.
Computer Literacy I: An Introduction to Computer Applications

One Semester
This course will introduce the student to the following computer applications: Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Power Point and E-Mail using Word 2000. Upon completion of this course, the students will have the necessary tools needed to integrate and perform various tasks such as writing reports, creating tables, charts, spreadsheets, basic correspondance and drawings, graphing, sending attachments using e-mail and designing power point presentations for their classroom projects.
This course is typically taken during the freshman year. A student who opts to take Band or Biology as a seventh course in his freshman year will need to complete this requirement during summer school before the beginning of sophomore year. A student designated as a Brother Andre Scholar will take this class in the first semester of his sophomore year.
Computer Literacy II/Applications

One Semester
This course furthers the development of computer literacy skills. It exposes students, in much greater depth, to spreadsheets, database management and presentation, and computer graphics using word, excel, power point, and e-mail. Students are required to prepare projects which integrate those software packages.
Prerequisites: Successful completion of Computer Literacy I
Computer Literacy III/Web Design
Grade: 9, 10, 11, 12
Credit: 0.50
One Semester
This course introduces students to Internet use and web design. Students will utilize browser tools to assist in research. Ethical usage of the Internet will also be discussed. Additional focus will be on utilization of Microsoft FrontPage to create web pages. Application of the recommended web design practices culminates in the production of a web page.
Prerequisites: A minimum grade of "C" in Computer Literacy II and/or departmental approval
